It's Father's Day, and usually when it comes to grilling, we leave it to the professionals, aka, them. But why not give dad a run for his money by becoming a professional yourself (or make it seem like you are one) by grilling up a turkey burger that is so flavorful, so juicy, and so grill-master-dad worthy that people will ask if you actually made Dad cook on Father's Day? Well if you feel like grilling something that'll make Dad question his grill skills, the burger to do it with is Bubba Burgers. Perfectly sized, tender, juicy meat, and suitable to all skill levels of grillers, it is exactly the kind of Father's Day foods that will impress Dad. Trust me when I say other burgers don't want beef with this turkey burger.

The Best Turkey Burger

I first came across Bubba Burger when I was perusing the frozen meat section of Stop & Shop.  I picked up Bubba's because of the promising advertising on the package: all natural, gluten free, 22 grams of protein, 90% lean and 10% fat, and "now juicier than ever!" Yup, I was sold. The cold yellow cardboard box of 8 turkey burgers came home with me and ended up right on the grill.

The box did an excellent job of advertising how good these burgers would be no matter how they were cooked, but my sister is the esteemed turkey burger cooking expert in my family so I trusted her to grill up the first test. They were done in less than ten minutes. My sister added cheese to the burgers and served them on a toasted sesame seed bun with slices of avocado as a compliment to the burger's savory flavor. As soon as I picked up the burger, juices dribbled out, giving my imagination plenty to think about before I took a bite. And sure enough, it lived up to my imagination. My sister used Grill Mate's Montreal Chicken Seasoning to flavor the burger, and all that salty goodness flowed into the juices when I bit down. The toasted bun added the perfect contrast of crunchy texture to the extremely tender meat. The avocado added a pleasant cooling agent to the hot, savory burger and the cheese added richness and brought out the flavor of the burger perfectly. It was an explosion of flavor and texture in my mouth, and after the first bite I couldn't put it down.

The box wasn't lying in its claims to unparalleled deliciousness. Besides that, this burger deserves a spot on ever grill this summer because of how healthy it is compared to a standard beef patty. While there are questions around which burger is healthier, Bubba Burgers score a point for turkey because they have no artificial ingredients and very little fat. They're only 190 calories a burger, while most beef burgers have an average of 254 calories. They are also gluten free, which benefits a lot of people with this dietary restriction.

Got A Grill?

This burger is versatile. Cook it in a saucepan, which will take a little longer, or cook it on a grill. Either way, this burger will come out on top and will definitely give your dad a surprise this Father's Day with the incredible flavors it holds. Dads may be the professionals of grilling 364 days of the year, but you could let him give up the crown for a day.
