At Clemson, or anywhere really, it’s pretty easy to stick to what’s familiar when it comes to restaurants. You know what you’re getting and have nothing to worry about. But what’s the fun in that? So here’s what I’m getting at: you absolutely have to try Clemson’s newest restaurant, Yolk Asian kitchen.

First things first, you should probably know that it’s next to Tokyo. It looks pretty unassuming, so here’s the view from the parking lot. Beautiful, I know, but now you know exactly what it looks like and have no excuse not to go there.

So, the set up inside is pretty casual, you order your food at the register and then take a number and they serve you. But the menu is where things get interesting. The majority of the menu is rice bowls, which sound pretty “out of your comfort zone” but they introduce these new foods in a really comfortable way. Take the palmetto bowl, it’s a rice bowl (crazy) topped with chicken, broccoli, and cheese (not so crazy) and a FRIED EGG. Did I mention that? Everything is topped with a fried egg. That’s awesome. Check out the menu here.

I ventured out a little bit and ordered the Trinity bowl, which is their bowl with tofu, pork belly, and kimchi, and it was insane. I mean, just take a look for yourself. 100% recommend, but if we’re being honest I really don’t think you can go wrong here. I’m planning on going back until I’ve tried everything on their menu.

Word on the street is their house-made beverages are so freakin’ good. I was pretty lame and ordered a water, but I’ve been majorly regretting that decision ever since. So learn from me and definitely order their house made Asian ginger ale or iced green tea. You’re in for a treat.

At risk of sounding repetitive, did I mention this place is awesome?? You can order as dangerously or as safely as you want to and, either way, your meal is gonna be ridiculously good. So please, add Yolk to your Clemson restaurant repertoire. I promise you won’t regret it.
