The Center for Global Learning, referred to at Washington and Lee as the CGL, is home to incredible study rooms, a gorgeous outdoor space, and arguably most importantly, The Tea House. The Washington and Lee Tea House is my favorite place on campus! Their drinks are just what I need after a tough class or a big test. Although the menu has a lot of options, sometimes I just want something a little different. Order one of these drinks off the secret menu when you're feeling adventurous with your caffeine fix!
The Deluxe Iced Coffee
The Deluxe Iced Coffee is too good to resist! It's an iced coffee with half and half, drizzled with chocolate, and topped with whipped cream.
Dirty Chai
A dirty chai is a traditional chai tea latte with an added kick: espresso! It's perfect for when you can't decide between getting a coffee or getting a tea. The drink is easily customizable; you can always choose what type of milk you want.
Americano
An Americano is a type of coffee that is made by diluting espresso with hot water. This drink is great for when you want all the caffeine of traditional black coffee, but want to try a different taste.
Cappuccino
Cappuccinos are made with steamed foam milk and espresso. There are so many ways to customize your drink too, like adding a shot of a flavor syrup. You can also change what type of milk you would like to use, or you can even swap the milk out for creamer!
Mocha
A mocha is a latte with some added chocolate flavor. It's typically pretty sweet and can be served either iced or hot. It's perfect for when you're craving a hot chocolate, but need a little caffeine!
Bubble Tea
Bubble Tea is by far my favorite drink on campus! Many people are unaware that you can ask for any type of milk in your bubble tea at The Tea House. Being dairy free, I am so grateful that this option is available.
Want Espresso? No Problem
The Tea House is more than willing to satisfy your diverse caffeine needs! They are so open to customizing and creating drinks for you. Many people don't know that The Tea House will make any type of drink involving espresso. I highly recommend the Cafe Latte!
Tea
It's called The Tea House for a reason! This year, The Tea House is serving a new set of flavors of tea. However, if you ask, the baristas are more than happy to share which of last year's flavors are still available. My personal favorite is sweet almond.
