If you haven’t been to the food hall at the City Foundry yet, then you’re missing out on good food and quality study time. The City Foundry Food Hall opened five months ago, on August 11th, and is just a short walk from SLU. What was once a foundry for casting metal is now home to 13 different food stalls that will eventually include a putt putt golf course, a dinner movie theatre, and lots of retail stores. Whether you’re in the mood for authentic Mexican food, poke bowls, cheesecake, or just wanting to try something new like Ivorian Senegalese food, the food hall has you covered!

Here’s the scoop on some of the food stalls:

Buenos Aires Café

Natalie Drury

Oscar and Ainara Farina are the creators of the delicious Argentinian food found here. What started out as a food truck many years ago, is now a steakhouse. However, their latest adventure has been this food stall in the City Foundry. Some of their most popular menu items are empanadasskirt steak sandwiches, and last but certainly not least, steak with fries (my favorite!).

Patty's Cheesecakes

Natalie Drury

Pat Upchurch, a SLU alum, opened her first solo storefront at the City Foundry, but has been crafting decadent cheesecakes based off of her grandmother’s recipe for years. Although she offers cheesecake slices, petites, and cheesecake sandwiches daily, the flavors change monthly!

#spoontip: If you see gooey butter cake cheesecake or cheesecake sandwiches in the display case, get in line immediately! They’re gone almost as quickly as they’re made because they are just that good.

Subdivision Sandwich Co

Natalie Drury

“Serious sandwiches” is what their food hall bio says and it’s no joke. They serve up large sandwiches with mouthwatering flavor pairings. Some of their most popular menu items are their fried chicken sandwich and their meatball sub. If you’re a Ski fan (the drink, not the sport), then you’ll definitely want to stop by this stall.

Chicken Scratch

Natalie Drury

This spot is one of the newest additions to the food hall, but it is one of the most delicious smelling stalls in the room. All of their chicken is rotisserie style. You have the option to order a whole chicken, a sandwich, or a salad to name a few items. Plus, they’re all served with their house made sauces. Looking for comfort food? This is the place for you!

The food at the City Foundry is certainly the best part, however, it is also a great place to study during the week. Yes, the library or your dorm room can be great study spaces, but if you’re like me, sometimes you need a new space to mix things up and keep you motivated. The City Foundry is the perfect new place to go for hard core studying or group meetings as they have large, family style tables, free-wifi, and the perfect balance of silence and background noise to keep you focused. Not to mention delicious study snacks to fuel you for hours.

Still don’t believe me? Go check it out for yourself!
