Running out of ideas on how to incorporate pumpkin into your Fall diet? Well you have come to the right place. We took a simple American classic—prepared cinnamon rolls—and mashed it together with another one of our nation's seasonal staples: pumpkin. There are some pre-made versions or other recipes out there, but us Spoonies like to take the easiest way to the most authentic flavor. This recipe for pumpkin cinnamon rolls is extremely simple to make, and the added step of incorporating pumpkin puree yourself sure is worth it. This dish will not only warm your hearts, but is the perfect Fall confection to have at your next brunch alongside perhaps some apple cider mimosas, or can be served up warm at the end of a turkey dinner.

  • Step 1

Sprinkle some flour on your working surface. Take the cinnamon rolls out of the package and put them on the floured surface. Set the frosting container aside for later.

  • Step 2

Keeping the rolls together, find the seam of the dough. Begin to gently unroll the dough, making sure to have enough flour down so it will not stick. Some of the pre-made cinnamon filling may fall out and that's okay, just throw it back onto the dough!

  • Step 3

In a small bowl, combine the pumpkin puree, cinnamon and sugar.

  • Step 4

Spread the pumpkin filling mixture evenly over the unrolled dough. Then, carefully begin to roll the dough back to its original shape. This will be messy and filling will fall out, but just go with it!

  • Step 5

Cut the dough along the pre-made lines into their separate rolls (The package we used made 5 jumbo rolls). Put the rolls into a pan that is either greased with butter or sprayed with non-stick spray. Cook according to the package instructions.

  • Step 6

Top each roll with the frosting included in the package when they come out of the oven. If you are looking for more flavor, you can mix the frosting with pumpkin pie spice!

This recipe took a few times to master, but the result is a glorious and moist roll packed with flavor. However, feel free to take some of your own variations or play with the ingredients a bit to customize it to your own flavor. Sometimes we even like to forego the frosting included in the package and make our own cream cheese frosting!
