In the heat of the summer with internship season in full swing, everyone is frantically searching for the perfect place to grab that golden hour cocktail. Though you'll definitely be splurging a bit more than usual, you worked a full day! Treat yo self to luxury. Here are 5 to die for NYC rooftop bars that will make your 9-5 work day just a little more bearable.

1. Mr. Purple

Lively yet relaxed, it's impossible to be in a bad mood at this luxurious NYC rooftop bar. Sitting poolside by day and enjoying vibrant skyline views by night, Mr. Purple is a magical experience. It definitely attracts a fun, young crowd of people being located on the lower east side. The food menu is simple & tasteful, and the specialty cocktails make this rooftop the total package!

2. Monarch Rooftop Bar

Monarch is everything you need it to be after a long day cooped up in the office. The vibe is electric and more casual than your typical upscale rooftop. You could walk in wearing business casual attire but nice jeans and cute sneakers will also do. Its upbeat, youthful energy will revive you, giving you the boost you didn't know you needed. From the energetic music to their stylish lounge sofas, you won't even need a drink to lift your mood! (Though, those are incredible as well). Even in the rain, this rooftop is an exquisite experience. The outdoor area can be lined with umbrellas so the stunning view of midtown is enjoyed rain or shine!

3. PUBLIC Hotel

In my humble opinion, PUBLIC has one of the most beautifully designed NYC rooftop bars to ever exist. The space itself is very upscale—beyond artistic and refreshingly unique. The couches are surrounded by beautiful gardens and greenery making for a serene city night. The stunning view of the Manhattan skyline is sure to keep you coming back. It's conveniently located near lots of other bars & nightclubs too, if you're looking to have yourself a night!

4. The Skylark NYC

Kate Lawlor

These cocktails speak for them self! At Skylark, you'll find a clean & classic rooftop lounge perfect for meeting friends after work. The atmosphere is luxurious but you'll feel at home, and their signature frosé is just the sweetest escape. With indoor and outdoor seating, this rooftop can be enjoyed through any season. Though drinks can get pricey, the dramatic sunset view overlooking the Hudson River, Empire State Building and Times Square will not disappoint. What more could anyone ask for honestly?

5. Bar Hugo

Let's face it, who can say no to a good happy hour? Bar Hugo is unique in that it is one of the few lavish NYC rooftop bars that actually has a decent happy hour! Not only that, but every Tuesday the happy lasts aalll night long. And if that's not enough, drop by for Sunday Funday to get day drunk at a happy hour that lasts all day starting at 3pm. Sophisticated & fun, this places knows how to entertain. Not to mention, it is a huuuge success when trying to keep the bill low.
