Wicker Park Farmers Market
June Through October
Sundays 8am-2pm
Rick Bayless, famed Chicago chef, is known to stop by this market for their fresh produce. After the market, make sure to check out the rest of the neighborhood; Wicker Park is filled with boutiques, coffee shops, and my favorite bookstore.
SOAR Farmers Market at the Museum of Contemporary Art
June Through October
Tuesdays 7am-3pm
In front of the MCA, this market has convenient week day hours for lunch breaks or picking up healthy ingredients during the week. This place is a perfect destination for people wanting to experience art and a farmers market in one trip.
Maxwell Street Market
Polk Street and Desplains Street
Sundays 7am–3pm, year-round
Maxwell Street Market carries authentic Mexican food and crafts, as well as various furniture, clothes, and household items. Make sure to come hungry– plenty of taco stands and chicharrones round out this colorful market.
Daley Plaza Farmer's Market
Washington St and Clark St
Thursdays 7am–3pm, May 10–October 25
Located in the middle of the Loop, this market is popular for workday lunches and picking up a few groceries on the way home. It takes place right next to Picasso's statue, so make sure to marvel at the steel-giant while finding the freshest tomatoes.
Loyola University Farmers Market
Mondays, 4pm to 8pm, June to October.
Located near Loyola University, this market is filled with students and locals alike. It labels itself as a "producers only" market, meaning that produce is sold by those who grew it. What better way to learn about your food than by asking the farmer it came from?
The Chicago French Market (Bonus Market!)
Monday through Friday 7am-7:30pm
Saturday 8:30am-5:30pm
Although this is a year-round market, the Chicago French Market is an unforgettable part of Chicago's market scene in the summer. Located underneath Ogilvie Train Station, they serve seasonal produce and French foods, from pastries and cheese to sandwiches and produce. The indoor stalls make a great shopping option when rain cancels other outdoor markets.
