About Tasty Yolk
The Tasty Yolk is a restaurant in Bridgeport, CT that serves an array of foods from breakfast to dinner. Don't let the name mislead you because they offer much more than egg sandwiches.
Eric Felitto and Mike Bertanza are the owners of this kickin' spot. They are old friends who never planned to start a business together until they found themselves working across the street from each other in Downtown Fairfield. They reconnected and decided to do something new for themselves. While staying at their primary jobs, they opened their first food truck in May of 2016, selling egg sandwiches out of a bike trailer. They then opened their second one in November of 2017.
Business out of the trucks was going well but got better once Felitto was invited to be on and became the champion of Food Network's, Chopped Season 39, "Breakfast Battle". After his Chopped victory, The Tasty Yolk trucks began to really take off. They now have four food trucks around Connecticut.
This year, restaurants struggled to keep business rolling as COVID-19 hit but COVID didn't seem to stop The Tasty Yolk. They opened their first storefront at the end of October of 2020. Fortunately since their store was entirely grab and go, the pandemic didn't set them back.
Our Visit
While at our visit, Felitto brought out so many delicious sandwiches. We got The Banker, a breakfast sandwich filled with with brisket, eggs, spicy aioli, and Swiss cheese.
Next we got The Veg Head, a spinach wrap filled with spinach, mushrooms, avocado, pickled cabbage, potato, with spicy aioli.
We got to try the March special, The Corny Yolk, homemade corned beef, eggs, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, and homemade million island sauce on marble rye bread.
We then had The Crispy Mother Clucker, a fried chicken breast, pickled slaw, and Korean barbecue sauce - and it looks almost as delicious as it tastes.
Finally, we had The Pig, their classic bacon, egg, and cheese.
Felitto made sure to have us try their homemade Tito's hot sauce and green sauce. They were the perfect spicy compliment for the sandwiches.
The Tasty Yolk is the perfect place for any of your comfort food needs as they sell much more than sandwiches such as pancakes and baby back ribs. Their food truck has come to Fairfield's campus in the past so if they return, make sure to grab something to eat. If you can't wait to try it, make your way over to their storefront! You won't be disappointed.
