Relationships come and go, but I can always count on two constants in my life: my best friends and a boozy brunch. Combine the two and you've got an ideal Galentine's celebration. When I discovered that Whiskey Bird, one of my all-time favorite Atlanta restaurants, was running a special Galentine's brunch menu, I booked a reservation as fast as I possibly could. Here's our review.

The Setting

Perched on the edge of Virginia Highland, Whiskey Bird is a vibrant fusion restaurant that avoids the boundaries of any one cuisine. Whether seated in the sun-splashed dining room or on the heated patio, an average meal here is anything but. On the line between neighborhood joint and fine dining, Whiskey Bird is serving up ever-changing, eclectic dishes and cocktails: yakitori skewers, crispy sushi rice, gyoza tacos, and a gouda-drenched whole roasted cauliflower that stays in my daydreams. But those are for another day - this outing was all about brunch.

The Menu

The featured Galentine's menu departed slightly from Whiskey Bird's classic brunch, offering a prix fixe deal for $36: mimosas and an entree. Enough said.

Our table unsurprisingly deviated towards the breakfast burritos, stuffed to the brim with eggs, cheddar, french fries, fresh guacamole, and patron's choice of skirt steak, fried chicken, or the vegetarian variety. Other favorites were the bao benedict, a rich twist on the standard, as well as the classic breakfast burger and the perfectly crispy, salty smashed potatoes.

The Details

What made this boozy brunch shine bright - other than the aforementioned amazing food and vibes - was the attention to detail. From the heart decor and dessert, to the attentive service for all our insane dietary preferences, to the customizable juices for our mimosas, we felt right at home. True joy is a tangerine-pineapple mimosa, a plate of fried potatoes, and quality time with great friends. This a must-book for your Galentine's weekend!
