It's hard to step out of the "Elon bubble". I get it. The problem is that there's always the same things going on over the weekend. North Carolina is filled with beautiful scenery, from mountains to the ocean to amazing food destinations, so there's no way you can live here for four years and not explore. Here are my favorite fun weekend food adventures in North Carolina.

1. The Honeysuckle Tea House, Chapel Hill

This sanctuary transports you to a calm and peaceful atmosphere with wonderful tea and smoothie bowls. They have hammocks to lounge around and places to do homework. I'd definitely say this is one of my favorite fun weekend food adventures in North Carolina.

2. Guglhupf, Durham

This place will always be my all-time favorite brunch spot in North Carolina. It is a German bakery with wonderful coffee and tea creations, amazing brunch and dinner, and delicious baked goods. If you get there early enough on a Saturday, make sure to try one of their jelly donuts. They are amazing but sell out early in the day.

3. Saxapahaw General Store

Saxapahaw is the cutest little area. The general store has local food and produce. The staff members are so kind as well.

4. Crafted The Art of The Taco, Greensboro

Greensboro is the closest major city to Elon, and it has an amazing array of new and popular restaurants, bars, and fun things to do. Definitely try Crafted The Art of the Taco when you go. Their tacos, chips, and guac are to die for! If you're over 21, you must try one of their cocktails. You can't go wrong with any one of them.

5. Foster's Market, Durham

Foster's is a casual stop for both breakfast and lunch. The sandwiches are all delicious and they also have a little market if you're looking to buy some local goods and produce.

6.  Maxie B's Bakery, Greensboro

If you haven't heard of Maxie B's, you might just be living under a rock! This bakery has grab-and-go cake, cheesecake, and pie by the slice. They also have cupcakes and cookies and they are a must-try before you graduate.

There you have it, fellow Phoenixes—some of my favorite fun weekend food adventures in North Carolina. I can assure you, these places never fail to disappoint.
