Peanut butter pouches are all the rage lately. These little single serving packets of nutty goodness are a great snack for on-the-go fuel. No wonder so many bar and nut butter companies are jumping on this trend. But one small local company (or tribe, as they call themselves) from Detroit is making a big splash with their hybrid spread, Nakee butter

What’s in a name

Why get Nakee? The ethos of this company is focused on the wholesome nutrition and benefits from raw ingredients. Their debut spread is Nakee butter, a superfood peanut butter filled with cacao, plant-based protein, and other natural superfood ingredients. This spread tastes so great that it’s difficult to imagine that it’s raw, vegan, gluten-free, non-GMO, low-glycemic, and soy-free.

The ingredients

Without so many of these traditional nut butter and spread ingredients, what is Nakee butter even make of? Well, Nakee tribe’s magical formation truly highlights the best of each ingredient they incorporate. The peanut butter base is filled with healthy omega fatty acids, and its flavor is amped up with fair trade cacao for a rich chocolatey flavor. It also includes MCT (medium-chain triglyceride) oil, which has been said to provide a plethora of health benefits including brain-benefitting energy boosts. Each pouch of butter packs in 10 grams of protein from peas and brown rice for completely plant-based, nourishing goodness. And the sweetener is agave nectar, one of my favorite and tastiest plant-based sweeteners out there.

The taste

Usually, health foods that contain so many superfood ingredients and nutrients can taste a little bit like a packet of vitamins. But Nakee butter genuinely tastes like a spoonful of your favorite chocolate hazelnut spread. It’s perfectly chocolatey and smooth, with a hint of peanut. Currently this spread is only available in individual squeeze pouches, so they’re great portable fuel for hiking, running, or anyone looking for a healthy and delicious snack. It tastes amazing as a topping for fruit, oatmeal, or just straight out of the pouch (my favorite).

When I found out about Nakee Butter, I thought it was the best hidden nut butter secret on the internet. So hop on their website and give this delicious spread a try! I’m eager to see what the next innovation from this creative company is.
