Not too many things in life can bring more joy than a handful of rainbow, chewy pieces of sugar. Spring brings some of the best candy! The hundreds of pastel bags that line the aisles in your favorite supermarkets. The variety of brands and flavors seem to bring the toughest decisions. Which bag of jellybeans should you buy? I did a taste test so that you don't have to waste your money (and chances of getting a cavity) on jellybeans that aren't worth the hype. Here are some jellybean musts and busts.

Trolli Sour Brite Jellybeans

If you like sour candy I am sure you are familiar with this brand. Trolli always seems to hit that sour craving spot. Each bean forces a subtle pucker of the lips, in a nice way. These beans definitely do not look like your basic beans. They are a little larger in size and more rounded than the average. The Trolli bag includes six flavors of apple, strawberry, lemon, cherry, orange, and raspberry. I personally loved the variety of flavors, each adding a neon pop of color to the bag. If you are a sour flavor fan, you gotta try these! But if the slight tingle of the tongue makes you cringe, save your dollars. Overall, I vote it as a must.

Sour Patch Kids Watermelon Jellybeans

Another bean for the sour lovers! If you are a fan of Sour Patch Kid's famous watermelon gummy candy, you might have to put these on your next grocery list. But I will forewarn you, set your standards low. I wasn't too pleased with the first taste test. However, the more I ate the more they warmed up to me. The most confusing part of the bag was the lack of unique color flavors. Jellybeans typically have a flavor that is associated with the color it wears. Yet, this bag is flavor neutral. Pink or green doesn't matter! Same taste. Is it just me, or does that freak out anyone else? The texture was a nice balance of chewy and soft. I would probably purchase this bag again because the sour HITS when you need the jolt. Also, the colors are so CUTE. Buy these if you like sour and watermelon, but definitely pass if that's not your thing. A sour lovers' must!

Starbursts Very Berry Jellybeans

Who doesn't love Starbursts? And who doesn't love berries? But I'll tell you right now, these two should stick to what they know best. I am going to assume there is a reason Starbursts doesn't have their traditional candy in berry flavors, or if they do, there is a reason we aren't eating them. Strawberry, raspberry, blackberry, and blueberry beans fill this bag with satisfying, warm colors. But the flavors just do not hit. This bag will definitely help with portion control because a tiny handful will be more than enough. But what's the fun in that. These are definitely a bust.

Starbursts Duo Jellybeans

Okay, these beans are a FUN time. You get the flavor bang for your buck. 2 flavors in 1. Grape-ade, tropical cherry splash, razzin' watermelon, strappleberry, peach-apalooza, and banana berry blast. Fun names and fun flavors! I am always an advocate for eating jellybeans one at a time in order to fully enjoy the unique flavor of each individual bean. However, with these beans, eating them one by one is not an option. It is necessary. They deserve full respect and attention. Just kind of like a needy, only child. Give the beans what they ask for! Your mouth deserves this excitement. Definitely a must!

Starbursts Fave Reds Jellybeans

Red jellybeans are a HIT or a miss. Either they taste like cough medicine your mom used to force-feed, or they actually taste good! Starburst's bag of fav reds is SO good. Strawberry, watermelon, and cherry. Each flavor is spot on. This bag is always eaten the fastest and enjoyed the most. While yes a bag of reds might seem boring, but this bag is so reliable and it makes it feel as if every sugar granule is worth it. These are definitely a must!

Jolly Rancher Jellybeans

Another classic fruity candy brand coming in hot to the jellybean game. The colors in this bag give off a much different vibe than most jellybean packages. Maybe that is because they have excluded a yellow bean from their pick. The blue raspberry, watermelon, and green apple taste identical to the classic Jolly Rancher hard candy. The texture of this bean is much chewier than average, making it prone to getting stuck in the teeth. If you are a Jolly Rancher fan, these might be a must. However, if you can do without that candy, consider these a bust.

Brach's Rainbow Sparkle Jelly Bird Eggs

Sparkles and sugar, yes please. These beans are so cute, happy, and springy! But to be completely honest, the flavors are terrible. The ultimate medicine-esque flavors, so if you're into that, maybe these are the beans for you. The texture is unique, and very soft, which i appreciate. These beans are definitely the cheapest option for a reason. But despite the penny saving bag, they are definitely not worth it. They are a bust!

Another debate worth mentioning, do you eat your beans one by one, or are you the type to pop a mixed handful in your mouth at once? I personally am a fan of eating jellybeans individually. How else are you supposed to distinguish the good flavors from the bad?? (Yes, I will pick through the bag to find the superior beans). Sorry to my friends who get the pleasure of enjoying the rejects. Jellybean season is here for a limited time, so get them while you can!
