Pineapple on Pizza

Of all the controversies, pineapple on pizza is one of the most debated food topics. Each time it is brought up, people share their support or their protest on the matter. With people feeling so strongly about the issue and never having tasted it before, I decided to see what all the commotion was about.

While I so badly wanted to pick my side in this food war battle, pineapple on pizza really didn't bother me. Was it my favorite? No. But did I hate it? Also no.

Combining sweet and savory food items together can enhance the flavor of a meal if it is done correctly. I think that the issue with the pineapple on pizza debate is how much pineapple is on the pizza and the size of the pieces.

A pineapple pizza with thick and large pieces is going to overpower the flavor of the pizza and add more of a pineapple flavor than a pizza with small moderately placed pieces.

The pizza I had tried had small pieces that were spread apart. The pineapple was only an extra hint of flavor and it was not overpowering. If the pineapple was larger I think that I would not have enjoyed it as much – it would have been too unbalanced.

Pineapple on pizza may just be an acquired taste; try it a few times in a few different ways before deciding if you don't like it.

At the end of the day, if you enjoy pineapple on pizza, order it and don't apologize. And if you don't like it, don't eat it.
