The queen has spoken: country superstar Dolly Parton recently stated in an interview with Insider that she’s a “big fan” of Taco Bell and expressed her love for their Mexican Pizza, a menu item currently under hot debate by Taco Bell fans and the media.

This statement follows a barrage of recent news headlines about Parton, following brand new, iconic brand collaborations with the queen of country, including Parton’s new Jeni’s Ice Cream flavor and her new baking collaboration with Duncan Hines emphasizing southern recipes.

In the exclusive Insider interview with reporter Anneta Konstantinides, Parton revealed her go-to order at the popular Mexican inspired restaurant, stating she “always gets a Taco Supreme, with the sour cream and all that, in a soft shell.” Then, without being prompted or questioned on the controversy surrounding Taco Bell’s cheesiest menu item (or rather lack thereof), Parton recalled eating a Mexican Pizza at one of the fast food chains restaurants.

When asked if she thought the chain should bring back the menu item, the country diva responded with an enthusiastic statement: “I think they should!” Parton joins the army of loyal Taco Bell fans in their fight to bring back the Mexican Pizza, backed up by a viral petition to get the Pizza back on the menu with more than 170,000 signatures. The Mexican Pizza was taken off the Taco Bell menu in November 2020, but is rumored to be returning soon due to high demand.

There is hope! Taco Bell’s global chief food innovation officer, Liz Matthews, spoke to Insider about the return of the cheesy delicacy and stated: “I think there's always a chance. We're constantly listening to our customers. So, I wouldn't pull that off the table." With Queen Dolly onboard, there’s a better chance than ever.
