Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. I love sitting around a large table with my extended family, the leaves falling outside, and playing board games after dinner. My mother has always taken Thanksgiving very seriously, so I have been fortunate enough to grow up enjoying and devouring all the rich and delicious foods Thanksgiving has to offer. In my mind, it is the perfect foodie holiday: such a variety of dishes, each with their own flavor and function. I can't think of one Thanksgiving I didn't fall into a food coma and burrow under my blankets, stuffed to the brim after dinner. As this ultimate food holiday comes near, take a minute to match your Zodiac Sign to each of the distinct, fun, and personality-filled Thanksgiving dishes.

Aries (March 21-April 19)- Butternut Squash Soup

Julia Gilman

Aries are known for their bold, competitive personality. They aren't ones to hide in the shadows, and neither is Butternut Squash Soup. A mostly sweet soup with a surprising touch of spice, it certainly stands out in the crowd and leaves an impression on you.

Taurus (April 20-May 20)- Mashed Potatoes

Caitlin Shoemaker

Taurus are dependable, reliable and patient. They'd never let you down, just like mashed potatoes -- all mashed potatoes are good, some are just better than others. And your mom's mashed potatoes on Thanksgiving are guaranteed to hit the spot every time.

Gemini (May 21-June 20)- Stuffing

Geminis are always associated with twins, as their constellation is two twins in the sky for all eternity. Because of this, they have a wide breadth of interests and diverse passions. Stuffing is a little bit of everything: the bread, the vegetables, all rolled into one yummy fall filled package. Just like Geminis, no one stuffing is the same, and each one is a wide mix of flavor.

Cancer (June 21-July 22)- Cranberry Sauce

Cancers are known for their intuition and introspection. There's always more going on than meets the eye, and they are skilled at picking that up in others too. At first glance, cranberry sauce seems very bland and one-noted. But once you dig in, you get those hints of citrus hiding beneath the surface, and all the hidden flavor shines through.

Leo (July 23-August 22)- Turkey

Morgan Goldberg

Leos, aka the stars of the show. You always know when a Leo walks into the room, so it's no surprise they perfectly match the turkey, the face of Thanksgiving dinner. Even if it isn't your favorite, you can't imagine having Thanksgiving without it, just as you can't picture life without Leos.

Virgo (August 23-September 22)- Dinner Roll

pastry, sweet, biscuits, bread, dough
Katie Elliott

Not only are Virgos an Earth sign, but they also are associated with wheat and harvest. Furthermore, they are practical and logical so it's no wonder that their personality matches dinner rolls the best. A completely functional food, the dinner rolls aren't there to be showy and flashy -- they are just there to fill the stomachs and ward off hangry guests, making them an under-appreciated, but necessary aspect of Thanksgiving dinner.

Libra (September 22-October 22)- Spinach and Artichoke Dip

Sophia Kolodzinski

Libras are all about balance. They focus on symmetry and harmony, and can sometimes be indecisive, making the Spinach and Artichoke Dip their perfect dish. A combination of two distinct flavors perfectly blended together, this dish is the epitome of harmony, and never having to choose between your ooey-gooey cheesiness and your veggies.

Scorpio (October 23-November 21)- Sweet Potato Casserole

Hui Lin

Scorpios are powerful and passionate. They make their presence known, and are a force to be reckoned with. Likewise, sweet potato casseroles are a favorite at many a Thanksgiving table. You can't miss the flavor, nor the rush to gobble up all the marshmallows on top.

Sagittarius (November 22-December 21)- Green Bean Casserole

Sam Jesner

Sagittarius are known for their intellectual capabilities and pursuits. Therefore, they need brain food coming their way. Green bean casserole is a filled with those healthy greens, while also being laden with rich creaminess and some crunch, so you don't get too weighed down. Plus, it can be adapted to any setting, just like Sagittarius can.

Capricorn (December 22-January 19)- Pecan Pie

Amanda Shulman

Capricorns are ambitious and competitive; they too want to be the best. A contender for the show stopper at the dinner table, pecan pie doesn't like being ignored either. It has to go up against a lot (apple pie, turkey, stuffing, cornbread), but is a strong candidate for best dish on the table.

Aquarius (January 20-February 18)- Gravy

Helena Lin

The Aquarius star sign is known as the humanitarian or healer star sign. Similarly, gravy may not have a lot on its own, but it helps every dish on the table reach their fullest potential. Without it, turkey is dry, vegetables are boring, and the plate is overall less interesting. It is the perfect complement to the whole dinner, just like Aquarius are.

Pisces (February 19-March 20)- Pumpkin Pie

pie, pumpkin, sweet, cake, pastry
Rebecca Li

Pisces are often considered the artistic and imaginative star signs. Also, they are compassionate and generous. Because of this, they truly embody the "sugar, spice, and everything nice" character of pumpkin pie. Not only is it warming for the soul (and the stomach), but pumpkin pie is a canvas to let your creativity run wild. Who's limiting you to a pie? Let's throw pumpkin into brownies, or cheesecake, or scones! It truly is a food perfect for experimenting, and Pisces will enjoy the canvas for creativity.

As we head into this Thanksgiving season, don't forget to find the Turkeys and Stuffings and Dinner Rolls in your life and give them a huge thank you. Just like a Thanksgiving dinner wouldn't be complete without one of these dishes, your life needs the extra pizazz these people bring to it.
